ORIGIN 

Of course the vast majority of the date production is used for consumption. Due to these delicious sweet fruits, the date palm has been planted by people for thousands of years. So much so that the original ‘birth ground’ of the date palm is difficult to trace back. For centuries dates have been an important part of the food culture in the Middle East and North Africa. You can also find the largest date producers in this region.

The palm itself can reach a height between 15 to 25 meters and the leaves can grow up to 3 meters. The palms are well able to withstand enormous drought and heat. Extreme heat is even a condition for the dates to mature properly. But only the female palms can produce dates. The task of the male date palm is solely to pollinate the female palm.
 

DECORATING WITH DATE BRANCHES

The fresh date branches, as you would buy them from us, have a beautiful bright green colour. After some time passes,  and the dates start to dry, they will eventually turn into a nice purple or grayish colour. The colour depends on how much light the date receives and what the temperature in the room is. This change in colour does not make the date branch any less beautiful. On the contrary!

With date branches you are able to step up your decorating game and easily create an attractive arrangement. For example, simply lay the date branch on a rustic wooden tray or cupboard. You can also make an autumn-arrangement and combine the dates with cotton balls, pumpkins and chestnuts, or put a number of branches together in a large stone vase.
