Together we create a better
and a more sustainable world
At Coloríginz and the Dutch Flower Group as a whole, we are committed to making a positive and sustainable impact. We aim to make zero impact on our environment and we want to make a positive contribution to everyone within our value chain.
Ambitious objectives, but fortunately we are not alone. Together with our customers, partners, employees, stakeholders, sister companies and the complete flower chain, we are continuously taking steps to do better.
Making the difference with IMPACT25
At Coloríginz and the Dutch Flower Group (DFG) as a whole, we aim for zero impact on the environment and we want to make a positive contribution to everyone within our value chain(s). Ambitious objectives, but fortunately we are not alone. We share our CSR strategy (corporate social responsibility) with all our sister companies within DFG. This strategy towards 2025, called IMPACT25, is based on three pillars:
1: For a transparent flower chain
Our products are sourced from hundreds of growers all over the world. This brings with it a great deal of responsibility towards the environment and the people working in our value chain. Our customers and consumers are also becoming increasingly aware of the impact they have on the world, which is why there is a growing need for more transparency in the origins of the flowers and foliage.
Certified growers
Because of the growing need for transparency, our ambition towards 2025 is to only purchase products from certified growers. The specific goal for 2021 is to further increase our percentage of sustainably sourced products. We will do this by informing and supporting our growers in obtaining certificates and joining initiatives such as the IRBC agreement. In addition, we are conducting research into making our supply chains more sustainable. We are currently investigating ways to make wild harvest products more sustainable, in order to preserve (vulnerable) landscapes.
Sustainable reporting
To be more transparent in our CSR developments, we must also improve our systems and reporting methods. This will enable us to perform better risk analyses and make our sustainable efforts measurable. As a result, we know where we need to take steps to do a little better every day.
2: For the people in our value chain
People are at the heart of our business and our world. We want to have a positive impact on the lives of everyone in our value chain, far and near, now and in the future. Sustainable employability, social responsibility and charity work are at the heart of this.
Sustainable employability
Sustainable employability is important; we want our employees to be proud of our company and enjoy their work. Every day, we work hard to create a safe and inspiring working environment for all our employees and temporary workers. By investing in the development of our employees and by creating opportunities, we achieve sustainable growth and success, together.
Social responsibility
We work to reduce social injustice and inequality. The exploitation of human rights has no place in our value chain. By regularly visiting our growers and suppliers, we stay informed about what is going on. We also encourage our growers to obtain (social) certificates such as MPS-SQ and GRASP.
Dutch Flower Foundation
As part of the Dutch Flower Group we support the activities of the Dutch Flower Foundation which aims to improve the living conditions and welfare of people in need of help. The Dutch Flower Foundation supports projects and organisations in the Netherlands and abroad. Read more about the initiatives and projects of the Dutch Flower Foundation here.
3: For our planet
Climate change has major consequences for our planet. We are therefore committed to reducing our environmental impact significantly; our ambition is to have zero impact on the environment by 2025.
C02 reduction
We are striving for zero co2 emissions in 2025. This is a challenging ambition but, as a forerunner within our industry, we believe it is important to have a high standard and thus also drive our industry forward.
Waste reduction
We use packaging materials such as plastic, cardboard and paper to protect our products. Packaging is therefore useful, but it also creates waste and uses up important resources. We are actively working on minimising our waste streams. In addition, we continue to look for more sustainable packaging and investigate where we can cut down on the amount of packaging material.
Water reduction
Plants need water to grow. Our growers therefore use a lot of water, but water is also used in our production hall to fill the buckets to make the vase life of flowers as long as possible. However, water shortage and access to water are serious problems that are going to only increase in the future. We are therefore taking a critical look at our water consumption and that of the supply chain in order to make the use of water more efficient.
