Your favourite spring flower
February 4th, 2021

As of now and until April, Liatris is available in our assortment again. From Scimitar Farming in Zimbabwe, we get this beautiful variety in a length of 55 to 100 centimeters.

Scimitar Farming is MPS A, B and C, SQ and Global G.A.P. certified.

What we find very interesting to read is how the most beautiful flowers were used in the past (but also in present day). Liatris has traditionally been used medicinally by Native Americans for its carminative, diuretic, stimulant, diaphoretic, and expectorant properties. It may sound a bit dirty, but unfortunately, we couldn’t think of anything better. Some tribes used it to heal a "weak heart" or pain in the limbs or back. The root of the plant is the part most often used.

Liatris is currently used medicinally to treat sore throats, as an herbal insect repellent or animals such as rabbits and voles eat the plants.
