May 23th, 2019

Dianthus (carnation) is an excellent cut flower and adored by many people all around the world. The popularity can partly be explained due to its wide range of varieties and the many, many available colours. But that is not all, dianthus tends to have a long vase life and is a relatively ‘safe’ flower for people who suffer from hay fever. If that isn’t true flower power, then we don’t know what is! You can roughly divide dianthus into two categories: The spray carnation, which have have multiple flower heads, or the dianthus with a single flower head. In this article we will share our favourite single head dianthus varieties. Hope you enjoy!

1x Dianthus Arona

Let’s start our list of strong with this flaming red variety. Red is of course the colour of passion, love, fire, determination and strength: all of these are very powerful associations. Dianthus Arona will definitely make a lasting impression.

2x Dianthus Anna

Can’t decide between white and purple? Why not get the best of both worlds? Dianthus Anna features a very cool duo tone. The petals of this variety are a little bit more spread out in comparison to the other varieties on our list, causing you to look straight into its floral heart.

3x Dianthus Evora

Dianthus Misaki features some beautiful and vibrant pink colours, which are drawing even more attention to the beautiful petal pattern. We would say this beautiful variety doesn’t need a lot more, and would look stunning in a vase by itself.

4x Dianthus Goblin

Although goblins are usually associated with nasty creatures, living in dark caves, we can definitely say this is not true for this fresh and green ‘goblin’ variety. Green is quite an original colour when it comes to flowers, combine this flower with orange and white for example to create a very classy and mature bouquet.
