From Italy we offer diverse Eucalyptus varieties with red colouring. The red coloured Eucalyptus is very suitable for autumn and Christmas decorations/arrangements.
The red colouring is achieved in a process that is called ‘absorption’. After cutting, the stems are put in coloured liquid. The liquid is absorbed by the plants vascular tissue and the leaves receive the colour of the liquid. This is a delicate process that takes time and its success depends of a variety of factors. The colour absorption proces for example, needs sufficient sunlight to take place. Also, when the plants vascular tissue contains a lot of water, it can delay or disturb the colour absorption.
A sunny day is important as heat initiates a natural process through which water evaporates from the leaves and the plant tissue actively absorps the coloured liquid. Also, light energy of the sun initiates a process known as photosynthesis, which uses water and carbon dioxide to make oxygen and carbohydrates. This water use stimulates new water uptake and in this case colouring of the leaves.
Examples of the Eucalyptus varieties that we offer on our web shop are:

Special requests are possible. But please take into account that the process is depends on weather conditions and can take up to two days. Therefore Absorpted Red varieties have a longer delivery time.
