Building strong relationships with our growers and partners is at the core of what we do at Coloríginz. Recently, we had the pleasure of travelling to Portugal to catch up with our valued grower and partner, Flora United Portugal.

100 hectares of ground

The Flora United farm spans an impressive 100 hectares - that's more than 247 football fields! Half of this vast area is currently in production, ensuring a steady supply of leucadendron, leucospermum, and protea for our customers.

New variety

Currently Flora United Portugal currently has its hands full with Leucadendron as the season has just started. Exiting new addition to the Leucadendron assortment is a new variety called ‘Ayoba Star Pearl’. Exclusively available in our assortment for only 5 weeks starting in May.

Some takeaways from our trip:

• It takes around three years for a young Protea plant to mature and produce
• Protea plants can live up to 20 years before they need to be replaced
• Bees are big fans of Leucospermum, which plays a vital role in local biodiversity
